Vickie Medina, LCSW

As a first-generation, Spanish-speaking clinician, I offer culturally responsive, affirming care. I proudly support LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC individuals, adolescents and teens, and those navigating trauma, anxiety and depression, while creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and respected.

With over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, my work has been shaped by serving individuals, youth, and families navigating complex systems and significant life stressors. I provide therapy in both English and Spanish. My professional journey began while completing my Master’s degree at California State University, Sacramento, where I initially hoped to work in school settings. After taking a mental health course, my path shifted toward clinical work, and I began my career at a nonprofit organization in Sacramento.

Throughout my work, I have supported youth and families involved in the foster care system, juvenile justice system, adoption, and Child Protective Services. These experiences grounded my practice in trauma-informed, system-based care and reinforced the importance of prioritizing mental health and emotional well-being in everyday life. As a first-generation clinician, I am especially passionate about providing culturally responsive care to the Latinx community and other historically underserved populations.

My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, client-centered, and strength-based. I integrate evidence-based practices such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy, while always tailoring our work to your unique needs. I specialize in complex trauma, LGBTQ+, anxiety, depression, grief, and faith-integrated (Christian) therapy when desired.

I believe healing happens within safe, trusting, and affirming relationships. Whether you are new to therapy or continuing your healing journey, I strive to walk alongside you with care, curiosity, and respect, supporting you as you build insight, resilience, and a stronger connection to yourself.
