INTEGRATE

The SSP helps restore the ability to sense “cues of safety,” so you can feel more calm, engaged and balanced.

LISTEN

Beyond listening 15-30 minutes a day, you do not have to “do” anything to experience the benefits of the SSP.

How does the Safe and Sound Protocol work?

The SSP is based on Polyvagal Theory (the science of feeling safe). Developed by Stephen Porges, PhD, it uses specially filtered music to stimulate the autonomic nervous system (ANS) which helps the body feel safe and less reactive to stress.

The program reduces stress, auditory sensitivity, while improving startle response, emotional resilience, and social engagement.

What people say after doing the SSP

“After the Safe and Sound Protocol, I feel like I could finally connect with myself, recognize and accept who I actually am, and all of a sudden know what my needs are.”

3 Nervous System States

Ventral Vagal

Safe. Social. Engaged

Vagus nerve is active and functioning well. You feel calm, centered, and seek out social connection. Your heart beats slower, your breath is slower, and you have reduced stress hormones.

Sympathetic

Fight/Flight. Anxious. Frantic

Sympathetic nervous system has been activated. You feel anxious, irritable, and probably worrying a lot. Your heart is beating faster, you are breathing shallower, you have trouble focusing and you may have digestive issues.

Dorsal Vagal

Numb. Shut Down. Depressed

Dorsal vagal is in shutdown. You want to be alone, lack motivation, and withdrawn. You struggle with fatigue, difficulty thinking, and you have great difficulty functioning.

How does the SSP help?

Feel Less Anxious, Less irritable

When the nervous system is calm, you feel balanced, which means less anxiety and less irritation. It helps with management of overwhelm and it’s easier to get things done.

Better Social Connections

You will find it easier to connect openly and authentically with others. You may find you are less guarded and more relaxed around others.

Think More Clearly

Stress makes it hard for our brain to function. Calming the nervous system helps optimize the frontal cortex so we can think and process better.

Reduced Stress Response

SSP helps to calm the nervous system, reducing your startle response and providing greater control in stressful situations.
