Neurodivergent-Affirming Support
Feeling “different” can be difficult, especially when it seems like you’re struggling with things that come easily to others. Being different doesn’t mean being less!
At Thriving Spirit Counseling, we embrace unique perspectives and strengths that neurodivergent individuals bring to the table. Whether you identify as autistic, have ADHD, cerebral palsy, or any other neurodivergent experience, this is a space where you are welcome!
We understand the challenge of trying to fit into a world designed for neurotypical minds. Our goal is to help you uncover and celebrate your true self while finding ways to navigate a life that aligns with your strengths and the way your brain works.
Some areas we can work on include:
- Understanding how your diagnosis impacts daily life
- Executive Function (organization, prioritizing, procrastination)
- Unmasking
- Self-advocacy, including receiving accommodations
- Improving relationships and social interactions
- Accepting and processing a late diagnosis
- Emotional Regulation
- Calming your nervous system
What Is Neurodivergence?
Neurodivergence isn’t about being broken or needing to be “fixed.” It’s about recognizing that your brain has its own logic, strengths, and challenges, and these are part of who you are. You’re not alone in this, and you don’t have to force yourself into a neurotypical mold to feel whole.
Why a neuro-affirming approach matters?
When you’ve spent years adapting to a world built for neurotypical minds, it can take a toll on your mental health and sense of identity. Rather than focusing only on symptoms or behaviors, we help you:- Understand how it shows up in your daily life
- Explore identity, self-acceptance, and how past experiences shaped you
- Develop strategies that work with your brain, not against it
- Navigate life with more confidence and less exhaustion
You Don’t Have to Have a Diagnosis
Whether you have a formal diagnosis or you suspect you’re neurodivergent, you are welcome here. Many people come to therapy because they’re tired of masking, overwhelmed by sensory or social demands, or simply ready to understand themselves more deeply.
We can work with you wherever you are in your self-understanding.
